Drinking Water Hardness

Hardness is a measure of the amount of calcium and magnesium water contains and is measured in German degree of hardness, ºdH. If water is hard, calcium blotches may appear on draining boards as may deposits in coffee makers and saucepans.

Soft water means soaps and detergents lather more easily and that less is needed for washing and laundry. Public drinking water in Borås is supplied by several different water purification plants and hardness therefore varies depending on where you live.
