Choose Eco-labelled Products Choose eco-labelled products for washing-up, washing and cleaning. Cleaning agents that are not eco-labelled may contain hazardous chemicals that are not even necessary for cleaning, and which also take a long time for nature to break down.
Lowest Detergent Dose Borås water is soft and therefore only the lowest detergent dose is necessary for laundry. Check to see if you´ve added the right amount by taking a peep into the wash drum once the washing machine has started. If only thin suds have formed you have added the right amount. Choose an eco-labelled detergent for laundry.
Cadmium in Artist Oil Paints Many artist oil paints contain the environmentally hazardous metal cadmium, therefore be sure to handle paint waste in a way that protects the environment. All paint waste, paper towels, rags, paint samples and discarded paintings that contain cadmium are hazardous waste and must be handed in for special treatment. For further information, refer to the brochure to the right.
Avoid washing away grease and cooking oil Grease and cooking oil cause big problems when they are washed into the drains. Pipes in the system suffer corrosion damage and burst. Blockages in wastewater pipes are often the result of grease that has accumulated and congealed over time, blocking the pipes. Water then takes another route and if you are unlucky there will be a flood somewhere. Large quantities of grease in the drains means that pipes have to be maintained all the more often and costs become high.
Do the following: if you often deep fry food collect the oil in a plastic container with lid, and when you are ready hand in the container to any of the recycling centres in Boda or Lusharpan. In the case of smaller quantities of grease, dispose of the container in the white rubbish bag. If you pan fry food, dry up most of the fat from the frying pan before washing up, and then throw the paper in the white rubbish bag.
Car Wash First of all we recommend washing your car at a petrol station or letting it stand on grass during washing.
